James Qwilleran and his talented team of feline sleuths, Koko and Yum Yum, investigate the supposedly accidental death of a cast member in a car crash on the eve of the Theatre Club's performance of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest."
Koko's strange new hobby of dropping himself from balconies has landed him in the oddest of places--on the head of a young visitor whose wealthy relatives soon fall deathly ill leaving Qwill with his work cut out for him.
While sifting through closets of junk in the mansion they have rented, Qwill and Koko uncover a mystery involving the suicide of the former owner and the murder of a potato farmer.
